A candidate standing for election to Aberdeenshire Council has been charged in connection with a disturbance in a village. It is understood to be Robbie Withey.
Mr Withey, works for Tory MP Andrew Bowie while also having been elected as a councillor for in 2017 and is seeking reelection as a councillor for the Alford, Huntly and Strathbogie ward next month.
Withey was caught on camera during an altercation in the village of Alford and can be seen threatening to put the other person on their “f***ing arse”, adding that “would be a prelude to putting you in the grave, you little f***ing c***”.
Police Scotland have confirmed that he was expected to appear in court at a later date following an incident in Alford, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday.
An 18-year-old man was also charged in connection with the altercation.
The Scottish Conservatives said they could not comment on an active court case.
